Volunteer Program (RSVP) - Why join
RSVP Membership Form
During 2007-2008, there were over 3800 visits to Kids' Closet for fall and
spring wardrobes.
Our volunteers act as "personal shoppers" and help the children make their
selections.
We have no paid staff. We are all volunteers. 100%
of your contribution goes directly to our programs. Our Volunteer Dues
pay for any Administration Expenses.
We now have over 440 Volunteers. Last year our
volunteers put in 30,000 hours!
RSVP - Why You Should Join
by Ken Siarkiewicz
RSVP - Retired and Senior
Volunteer Program - is a national program in which volunteers use their
skills and talents to help others in their need. Locally, our branch serves
both Gila and Pinal counties with a variety of programs that are funded
through grants from the Federal Government. These grants are just like the
grants that fund Community Outreach activities and are awarded on the merit
of the program and the impact to the community served. As a member of RSVP
you will still do what you are currently doing for Outreach. The only
additional action on your part is to report your volunteer hours and miles
by day of the month, rather than a simple total for the month. What you get
is supplemental accident and liability insurance that covers you during your
volunteer activities, including driving to and from your volunteer station.
Do you like to double your coupons at the store? As an RSVP member your
volunteer hours will double in benefit. First, as always, the hours you
report help the Outreach grant writers win those grants and buy clothes for
the Kids. In addition, your hours will help the local RSVP office qualify
for larger grant monies which fund the many programs for the needy families
here in Pinal County, the same families of which our Kids are a part. There
are three simple requirements to meet. You must be at least 55. You must be
at least semi-retired. You must fill out a simple one-page application form.
The insurance is nice to have and it is free. It is nicer to know that
reporting the hours you volunteer will help the Kids and their families in
more ways than you will ever know. Click here for application form or contact Ken Siarkiewicz at 818-0425
or
EmilieS1@mindspring.com to obtain a copy of the application form. They
will also be available at the Outreach General Meeting. |
